Little People, Big Landscapes

Have you noticed the proliferation of wide landscape photographs with the inclusion of one or two solitary humans in the distance? The trend is popular with many landscape photographers. Maybe you're getting tired of the glowing tent below a darkened, starlit sky while off in the distance a hiker beams a headlamp toward the Milkyway. I must admit that these shot are impressive. But I always have a nagging feeling that the little people have been added to the scene in post-production.
